The police chief blames it on guns.
It's all the guns fault.

It's not that some people just bad.

One strike and you're out for gun crimes, IMO.

Yes, you can put a significant amount of the blame on the instrument. The ready availability of guns essentially doubles the murder rate.

2019 murders in London: 145
2019 murders in New York: 318

That's just the reality. I doubt that it will change any time soon; the gun fetish in this country is too strong.

I do agree that shooting a gun involves more distance and it's an easier to commit the act.

As we know with knife, a person has to get up-close and personal with potential blood and the victim defending him/herself an possible even taking the knife.

Gun fetish? Yes, it's deeply intertwined in the culture and I think it always will be.

Very happy to see that defunding is working out so well for these cities. Magnificent work, liberals.

Oh, and please do keep it up with the human refuse "experiencing homelessness" tossing rocks through people's windshields. That's definitely carving a deep and lasting canyon of sympathy in the hearts of the general public.

Incompetent "leaders" who watch national news and then apply their own community.

A person or people in a leadership position can be bad but competent....terrible but competent.

But in these cities it's below the line of competence.

They are incompetent.

.

Switzerland has one of the highest rates of gun ownership, yet a very low homicide rate.
Mexico has very strict gun laws - only one gun store in the whole country, yet it has a very high gun violence rate.

Some of the highest gun violence areas in the US have the strictest gun control laws.

The Seattle police chief acts as if he's never heard of gangs coming across the southern border, and fighting it out in the US for control of the drug trade.

This is clearly the result of increased numbers of criminals in our city, both imports, and locals who have been released from jail.

Those are some apples and oranges you're trying to compare. And some pears for that matter.

1) Switzerland has a population of about, what, 8 million. So are you trying to compare Switzerland to the US (population ~330mm) or NYC and London (comparable)? But even so... Switzerland is about 2.5x the size of London and 5x the size of NYC. So it's substantially less dense.

Doesn't density affect violence? I know in lab rats it does.

2) And then you compare Switzerland and Mexico to ____? Mexico is a developing nation with 100 million people on a completely different continent than Switzerland. So how can you possibly be justified in using both together in a comparison?

Where do you think Mexico gets its guns?

You know. Everyone knows. And you know what the exchange is for too.

Apples, oranges and pear. US, Switzerland and Mexico.

OH MY GOD

I was SO against this last summer. You remember "summer of love" (RIP Seattle Mayor)? People, maybe even a poster here (eh-hmm), got SO ON MY CASE for being extremely against the police hate.

Time for some schadenfreude!
