Isn't the gun thing kind of impossible in the U.K.? Just wondering..

Remeber you're talking about the U.K. when talking to movie... You know that great place of "free" healthcare...

Thankfully I've only got to go about 10 yards to be out in the sticks, on our own well, grow our own veggies now and can 'em or go into the woods and pick wild ones. Meat is no issue as long as the deer/elk/bear/moose heards are around and then there's always fish.
Thinking about a diesel or NG generator, house is already wired for it but it's more about power failures than survival but does both I guess.
We've always stocked up on stuff when on sale, not a survivalist per se, more just trying to save $$$ but I guess as in the generator it serves 2 purposes.

You were supposed to have been planning before all of this happened. That's why they say to keep 6 to 8 months of an emergency fund.

I think there is something called manifest destiny.
I think if we say that the banks will run out of money, then everyone will try to withdrawl their cash, and they will run out of money.
I think if we stop the fear mongering then everything will be fine.

Example: The DOW fell yesterday to a four year low. People are acting like that's the end of the world. Did I miss something? Doesn't that meant that 5 years ago it was even lower? And we all survived.

Even in the great depression, we survived. People are resiliant, and then we flurished.

There was a crash in the 80's, and we're fine.

We even made it through the cold war.

Starting hysteria and mass panic will make it happen. Staying calm and rational will prevent it.

What does "manifest destiny" have to do with a monetary crisis? I think you mean self-fulfilling prophecy.

I agree. The fear mongering among the media, and even among many people on this board only makes matters worse.

Remember back in late 1999, people were counting down the days until Y2K. Remember all of those people stocking up on flashlights, candles, food, water, generators, guns, ammo, etc?

There's nothing wrong with being prepared for emergencies, but some of the posts I see on this board are way over-blown. Why watch Days of Our Lives when I can get my daily dose of drama by visiting the Business forum?
