Many times when I look for reviews of a product I've seen on TV I read complaints of exorbitant
charges for shipping and handling......if I decide to buy an item I wait until it comes to places like
WalMart or Bed Bath & Beyond.....not only no shipping and handling but also I can return it quickly
if I don't like it...have you had any bad experiences?
I don't understand on how anything can be a rip off if the charge(s) is stated before you agree to buy it.
Commercials may be short on the details and shipping/handling may be exorbitant but you aren't being conned into paying it.
But wait! If you call within the next 15 minutes we'll send you another one at no additional charge, just pay the extra shipping and handling...
That's where many companies make their most profit, on the exorbitant S&H charges. You pay twice for S&H. Too many people fall for this trick.

Totally agree with that... NOT a ripoff when they are upfront and you CHOOSE to pay the price.
If it doesn't trigger additional orders or additional costs I don't see the problem .... even in the above mentioned "act now" scenario
If something is $20 plus $8 S&H and an additional is free with additional S&H you have to make the decision if both items are worth the $36 total costs
I was watching HSN this weekend, something I rarely do and they actually had an NFL throw I would have considered buying - when looking at the price I definitely saw the cost and the note of S&H below it .... I thought the total price was fair, but unfortunately the design was really rough
And there are ads for product they claim will be 'shipped free!'....well, you're going to pay for shipping/handling because they've added that cost into the price of the produce. It's a marketing plan that many customers believe.
I agree that it states the facts but I do think it is customer friendly when large stores offer free shipping with at least a minimum order. Often times people order online for convenience or because they cant find a product in the store and with that comes extra fees. I would think and could be wrong but large companies such as Macy's would get better deals for shipping items?
It is my fault but what I hate is when I ship a gift myself and when I purchase the item I don't think of the cost of shipping and the shipping costs just as much as the gift.
I think shipping and handling charged is usually very profitable for the company selling the item. If possible I always try to buy something directly from a store. If it is a gift it still cheaper for me to send it myself rather pay for shipping & handling charged by the company selling the product.

But if the additonal shipping charges are less than the cost of the second product now is that a rip off since you know what it cost before buying. Its like anything you don't want to pay the cost do not order the item. Does any one really think shipping that is free is actually free; no its paid for by price. Look at shipping prices at amazon for example and do you not think they pay for other free shipping. Its a scheme where they can delay free shipping while selling and charge more for faster overall to makeup. Nothing wrong with it just that its not free really. Amazon does hide thaqt they charge more to some; nothing for those who will wait to make to make cost.
