If so, well, why? It's only an absolutely last resort for me, if all else fails. I haven't bought anything there for at least a decade.

Yes, I know that if you shop there it's probably because it's inexpensive, or maybe because it's convenient. But I'm posting this because I happened to run across an interesting item, that the Walton family's wealth is the equivalent of 40% of the wealth of America. It's the equivalent of 53,000,000 households. How much more do they need?

Me, I'd rather go to an independent local place whenever possible.

Yes, I think other corporations are just as bad as Wal Mart when it comes to how they treat their workers. I still shop at wal mart, though, but not often.

Same here, no one really knows enough about the owners and/or investors of any company to make buying decisions based on things like their political views, how they treat their workers, or whether they "have enough money already." We hit Walmart maybe every other month for a few name brand items that are significantly cheaper, when we happen to be near one. Most of our shopping is from Costco, with smaller purchases at Trader Joe's, Metropolitan Market, Fred Meyer (Kroger) and Safeway. For non-grocery items it's mostly Amazon. The CEO/founder of Amazon is worth 90 billion, just behind the Waltons at 93.

I like bargains, so yes I shop there for certain things. I also believe that you get what you pay for. I wouldn't buy anything there when I require something high quality, like footwear, dress clothes, jewelry. I do buy things like oil and filters, household things, certain toiletries, certain foods, tee shirts.

Of course I do. Now it's changed a lot since I knew Mr Sam and Ms Helen. I wish I would have bought stick when it was first offered. For groceries I go to Safeway.

I don't understand why the personal wealth of share owners would affect consumer decisions.

Please explain, someone.

I actually went there today to pick up some groceries. I'll usually go about every ten days/two weeks to shop. I couldn't care one bit whether the owners are rich, what their politics are, etc. as long as their stores continue to run efficiently and have what I need when I need it.

I'm a live-and-let-live kind of guy. If someone doesn't want to shop at a certain store, I'd never try to convince them to go. I respect their choices, but they don't seem to respect mine. It's quite irritating, really, especially when the WalMart Haters are so 2006.

Yet another Walmart bashing thread. As if we don't have enough of those already

Do you shop at Walmart?

Yes, almost exclusively.

It is convenient, has a good selection of groceries and other things I need, good prices. The store is clean and the people who work there are nice.

It sure is a lot better than going from store to store to store only to find out they do not have what I am looking for or the price is way too high.

However, I never buy bakery or deli items at Walmart......they just aren't very good, but then, I rarely buy bakery or deli items so that is OK with me.

Once in awhile I will go to a local grocery store or Lowes/Home Depot/Menards.

I also buy a lot of things from Amazon rather than driving all over the place trying to find what I want from a local store.

I don't think I have to publicly justify where I shop and why...
