LOL!! I laughed at your post and enjoyed it! I am a member for many years at my local Costco, and yes there are vendors there at times, mostly Direct tv, but they are all polite, and don't hound you if you just say no thanks. You have to be more laid back and let it roll..

Grazers disgust me....99% have no intention of buying whatever the sample is, they just want free food.
I paid $110 membership fees last year. Those samples are FAR from free.

Grazers aren't those who try all the samples, grazers can eat 5-10 samples from a single table with items like chicken wings or tenders, Povitica, pierogi, sandwiches, or other high cost or high protein products.

Most commonly set up with irritating carnival barkers at my local Costco:

Verizon
Satellite TV
Vitamix blenders
Cutco knives (blech!)
Some other food processor
Some carpet cleaning machine

Other crap like mattress covers, "my pillow", and other home goods appear seasonally.

Personally, if they start talking to you and you raise your hand to stop they should just stop. Anything else is high pressure.

Samples are definitely a perk of the Costco experience.
Whatever you have to tell yourself to make you feel better about bienga grazer!

Fact is, you KNOW you should be embarrassed by how you act...so you justify it however you can.

I didn't experience any pesky soliciting or asking for donations.

COSTCO member since the 90's.
Hah! You're just an infant. My card says I've been a member since 1986. Back in the days when it was called "Price Club". As with you, I've never been over solicited. Everyone's been extremely polite. The DirectTV guy doesn't even ask anymore. Just a smile and a wave.

Don't mind the membership fee at all. With 4% back on gas, and the least expensive in the market, my "cash back" and membership fees are a wash.

A "grazer" is someone who takes the offered samples from the booths at Costco, and that is a bad thing?

Huh. I always thought they wanted people to take those samples. You never know, someone might really love a new food and decide to buy it.

I shop at Costco very frequently (about every 2 weeks) and have never once seen a person hang out in front of a sample booth eating 5 or 10 samples. Everyone takes one, maybe two if there are several different flavors (of popcorn or potato chips).

Costco shoppers - do you feel hassled at the stores?

Absolutely no, never hassled.

I’ve only ever been to three, but I have never felt harassed. It might just be your specific store. Speak to the manager and be polite but firm.

Yes, there’s always a person standing in front of their table trying to get someone’s attention to sell them something. I stay away from them so they won’t try to get my attention. Or I’ll say no thanks. I feel bad for them. It must be a 99% rejection rate.
