I received this article from a math teacher I graduated from college with, and wow! Although I find the article hilarious and the information itself is incredibly useful. After all, haven't each and every one of us waited in the express lane with a caesar salad and a bottled water, hoping our boss wouldn't catch us ten minutes late for work again?

Isn't this is the truth?

However I once tried to let a woman with only one item get ahead of me but she went into another lane...well let's just say I left the store earlier than she did despite having more items.

Here's a tip: The fastest way to speed up the line is to have your money ready!!

The (beginning of the) article does not take into account people who are ready to pay and those that do the granny-fishing in the purse.

How many times have you gone in one line with less items, only to have a dozen coupons, one that does not work, and a person counting out exact change?

You see a line of 5 people with an item or two in hand along with cash, chances are they will fly through.

Problem is, you do not get 2 people with 10 items in tow, you get 2 people with 60 items as compared to 8 people with 5 (avg). And that is ignoring the possible "whammie" of PRICE CHECK!!!!

Not the price check!!!!

When I worked as a cashier, I hated it when people would bring items that they KNEW didn't have a bar code on it and they would want me to go searching in the store to find the price. It would have saved everyone a lot of time if they would have looked for the price themselves!

Worst is when things come rung up wrong. Just the other day I got 3 packages of English Muffins (at an AMAZING get one, get two more free at Kings. They have WEIRD offers sometimes).

I was charged for all 3!

It took me a good 10/15 minutes to go back and get it all straitened out. (I would not have done it if it wasn't for the $7.40 it would have been! That wasn't a 20¢ mistake!!)

I have also had it where I have run back, gotten the tag OFF the shelf, and brought it back to them. Since they do not have an obvious date stamp ("Week 32" in small print) it is hard to tell what applies. That usually ends up in a match and getting rid of the erroneous tag.

But yeah, one of those and your whole line is going to get pissey!
