A young girl character in my novel needs to go fishing in the Moreau River somewhere near Iron Lightning in Ziebach County. What kind of fish is she most likely to catch? Trout? Walleye? Pike? Or? Also, would she be fishing with worms, eggs, artificial lure, or? Any experience or expertise you can share with me would be greatly appreciated. Have a grand day. tunner

Tunner,
As a llife long fisherman, when all else fails, worms or night crawlers do the trick. I really doubt whether the Moreau holds Trout. Fish like Bass, Pike, Sunfish and possibly a Walleye or two may be present. All fish find worms attractive. In the summer time, a small grasshopper will take dang near everything. Hope she has fun and catches lots.

I appreciate your native insight. Growing up in Montana and Washington, all of my own fishin' experience is with trout, steelhead, or trout. I want to be as accurate and authentic with my writing as possible so your input is valuable to me. I take it you've not fished the Moreau? Perhaps someone up there will read this and give us both some insight. Thanks, and have a grand evening. tunner

Edit : I meant to say, trout, steelhead, or salmon. That's what a glass of wine while fixing dinner will do. tunner
