Well, we made it back to Florida after our big adventure in the hills! I can't say I'm happy about being back as I wish I was still there. As I mentioned, I rented a really nice camera rig for our trip and shot more than 1600 pictures of everything during the week. We had to park down in Keystone and hike about 4 miles each way to get to the spot to shoot these.
More to follow of other things but here are a bunch of the fireworks for all of you that couldn't be there. Feel free to right click and save them if you want. I would like to thank Paul at lensprotogo.com for providing the equipment. It was a great deal and I would do it again for any special trip I plan to make.
Yep, it was a Canon 5D with a Canon 24-105 IS L lens. I might have had a circular polarizer on it (can't remember if I took it off or not, I definately used it during the day because it was very hazy because of the smoke from the California fires). I got 1600+ shots on one 8 gig card.
The pictures are very good. My favorite ones are towards the end. 4th of July fireworks and Mt. Rushmore are a very good American combination. There are a couple in the later part that should be developed as a larger picture and framed.
Oh yeah, I'll get around to printing some for framing sooner or later. Thanks for the compliments. I enjoyed shooting them and have a lot more than I posted here. Feel free to send the link to anyone you want, especially anyone in the service that might like to see them. I haven't really searched through all of them to pick the best ones so there may be more good ones coming soon.
BH, those are absolutely spectacular!!!! Only those of us who have been fortunate enough to see Rushmore can appreciate how fantastic that fireworks had to be. The mountain itself is HUGE and some of those shots look like it went almost again as high as the mountain. That is really something and you did such a good job. You should be a photographer.
I take it that you enjoyed your trip? Do you already have your return date picked?
Yes Danny, I had a blast! I didn't want to come home at all.
Thanks SeeBee! I know one of your fellow SeeBees who lives here in FLA and works out of Mayport in Jacksonville.
and Thanks Jammie! Glad you liked them. I've thought about going into photography and would probably love it. I guess I'll have to give it some more thought now. I was laid off from my job here in Palm Coast 3 days before we left for the hills so now I'm looking at what I'm going to do next and trying to figure a way for whatever that might be to get me back in the hills for good. I'll be posting more pics today.
There ya go~call it Divine Intervention and head for the Hills!
