We have decided to visit the area during the winter months. Coming up to take a close look at Spokane, Post Falls and Hayden/Coeur D'Alene area. I think the Coeur D'Alene area is very overpriced on homes because it has little land and it is a tourist town. It is lovely but I think it is smarter to look in areas around that little town. I find Post Falls very interesting. Eager to spend some time in the area. Coming from Texas it will be nice to experience winter, even if for a short period. Again, any suggestions on best area's for good quality of life is appreciated. I am concerned about flooding in Post Falls. Any info on flooding in the area?

Thanks

You might check this question in to the Idaho city-data forum. I lived in Coeur d' Alene for 6 months. It is a very nice small city, but you must have the money to live there, honestly. We were in a state of transition while there, meaning, I was looking for work. We lived in a small 2 BR shack near the Library downtown for $525 a month. We were grateful to find the place, because we have two dogs and two cats, and they accepted animals. I found a job in my field in Alamogordo, NM, by the grace of God, and we moved in early Jan. of 2013, after spending 6 tough months in Coeur d' Alene. During our stay there, we spent some time in Post Falls, ID, because it's only 8 miles west of Coeur d' Alene. Not a bad town to visit, but I know precious little about it's renting/mortgage dynamics at all.

You might look up Rathdrum, ID, too. It's between Post Falls and Coeur d' Alene, ID, a little north of them. They are both on I-90, a major east-west freeway. Rathdrum is a little bit north, it might just be what you're looking for, though. I sure don't know about that. You might check it out. Don't know much about flooding in Post Falls, ID. Again, you might check the Idaho forum.
