When is Wimbledon?

What ATP 1000 events are between now and Wimbledon?

There are no Masters 1000 events prior to Wimbledon (or the Australian Open, both of which are ridiculous, but that's another story).

Wimbledon starts on Monday 6/28. There are three weeks between the end of the French Open and the start of Wimbledon; an extra week for warm-up grass court tournaments was added to the calendar this year.

A couple of interesting finals for Sunday;

Nadal vs Troicki in Stuttgart, which has switched to grass this year, and Giorgi vs Bencic in Den Bosch.

Hopefully Nadal is rediscovering some form ahead of Wimbledon. I'd like to see Giorgi get her first WTA title, she's made a few finals before but never lifted the trophy.

Without looking it up, I'd guess the 18 year old Bencic has never won a WTA Tour title either.

Nadal won the Stuttgart final today. Only a 250 event, but a win is a win, and hopefully he'll be in the mix at Wimbledon.

I'm pleased to see Giorgi win the title in Holland. Her first WTA title. I'd like to see her do well at Wimbledon. She has the game to do well on grass.

Queens gets under way tomorrow, which has been upgraded to 500 status this year. Lots of big names in action there, including Murray, who is in action on Tuesday I think. Lots of coverage on the BBC all week.

Andy Murray did the same kind of thing at Munich, and he had the best clay court season of his career. It's never a bad thing to win a tournament, even a small tournament, when you're trying to build confidence.

Well, so much for that. Nadal goes out in three to Dolgopolov, and while the Dog is clearly not a player you want to play, especially on grass for Rafa, it is still disappointing to see.

Also, I want to give a huge congratulations to Camila Giorgi for winning her first title! Great job!

Some good news for British tennis fans today.

Laura Robson is playing at in the Wimbledon tune up at Eastbourne next week. She's taken a wildcard into qualifying. She hasn't played since the 2014 Australian Open, so I imagine her results will be a bit patchy at first, but it's good to see her back.

Plenty of grass court finals decided today.

Andy Murray won at Queens Club for a record equaling 4th time.
Roger Federer won in Halle as he almost always does.
Angelique Kerber beat Pliskova to win in Birmingham.

Murray looks to be in good shape going into Wimbledon, he played great tennis to win the final comfortably today. Hopefully that form will keep up for the next 3 weeks.

Unfortunately Laura Robson lost heavily in her comeback match, but at least she is back on the tour at last.

Only Nottingham remains for the men and Eastbourne for the women then it's the big one.
