I had no idea that Siobhan (Fallon) Hogan would be in it! Pretty excited to watch it, now. lol. She's from Cazenovia and has been in multiple supporting roles for various movies. Siobhan Fallon - IMDb
They are showing the Making of Upstate at 8pm followed by the pilot episode at 8:30pm on News Channel 9 tomorrow night. I am definitely planning on watching!
Yikes!! Siobhan won't do Syracuse any favors, unless of course you want the area to be portrayed as being rife with frumpy plain looking women with pale skin and a whiney twang. She certainly represents a sizable segment of Syracuse's population - ala a better looking version of Stephanie Miner.
Perhaps most shocking is that she's from Caz. I would have guessed Tipp Hill or Geddes.

She's a comedic actress... she doesn't actually sound like her characters. :P Her family and extended family (quite large) are among the wealthiest in Central New York- and are very down-to-earth. lol - they are personable people but Siobhan was born with a speech impediment, so her sound is different. Entire.family.is.hilarious - the kind you ALWAYS want to invite to a party because they'll entertain everyone by being *themselves.*

My problem with the show is that it seems to have a struggling blue-collar "Roseanne" vibe that will ultimately portray Syracuse as much more of a down and out city than it actually is.

Will it? We haven't even seen it yet...
A decent number of neighborhoods ARE "down and out," btw. I really don't want Syracuse to be portrayed as the most miserable place on Earth, of course... but I haven't even seen the show yet. It might be fair - there's a mix of that sometimes-there-are-things-to-do/bored-everyday, everywhere. I'll reserve judgement until after I see it.

I hear ya. I'm just going by the comments from the producers and writers.

Based on the comments from the executive producer, I'm inclinded to agree with you. The fact that all of the characters are blue collar and have no education does not inspire confidence that the show will be balanced. According to the most recent coverage, one of the characters will be working as a janitor at St. Joe's. How classy!! If the pilot turns out as predicted, hopefully it will not be picked up by any cable outlet. The Roseanne and Grace Under Fire shows were two of the scummiest sitcom's on television, in my opinon.
It would have been much different if the show was more in-line with the Drew Carey Show that portrayed a mix of blue and white collar Cleveland, a city that is quite similiar to Syracuse, albeit on a larger scale.
