We are looking for a wedding location under a large live oak. We live in Thomasville, but don't mind a bit of travel.
We are on a tight budget and would prefer to get married at a park or something similar where nature is a key element (for example the big oak in Thomasville is beautiful, but not exactly in nature).

Any ideas?

Thanks!

I've been to wedding receptions at the Women's Club? (intersection of of Thomasville Road and Meridian/7th in the "midtown" area of TLH) and Oven Park (Thomasville Rd about a mile south of I-10). Not sure if Maclay Gardens allows weddings. I've also been to a wedding at Golden Eagle CC, which was held outside with a view of the lake. Maybe even Pebble Hill Plantation south of Thomasville?

My guess is that Oven Park may have the best combination of nature/gardens and price, but I haven't been in the wedding market for about 20 yrs.

I saw the pictures of someone's wedding at Goodwood Gardens, and it is a beautiful place to have your wedding, but I doubt that it could be called a "budget" location.

Goodwood Plantation or Oven Park would be real nice. Another place to consider: the Spirit of the Suwannee music park near Live Oak has a beautiful building / desk next to the river, its a wonderful setting.

dosky, this would be a perfect location for you. visit this website for information and pictures of the tree and property.

There is a contact phone number for wedding pricing, and if you click on galleries you can see pictures of past weddings held there.

Its beautiful.

Lichgate: I was very pleasantly surprised when I went to a reception there a couple of years ago. The old house is fascinating, the grounds are beautiful. It would be a good choice.
