How unusual is this? (Tampa: house, live, rating)

I am considering a job in Tampa and was there in June. I have also visited during summer in the past so I think I know about the "regular" Florida weather and don't mind the heat. But in the past month the weather reports are saying the area is in a brutal heat/humidity wave. My question, is your current weather that much different than regular summer weather? How bad is it?

Feels normal to me. There just doesn't seem to be as much rain as past summers, but whatever.

It seems like we've had a longer stretch of hot/humid weather than normal. But not too much of a difference.

I think maybe we have had a few hotter than normal days and also less rain than a normal summer, but that is typical after an El Nino winter.

I have to chime in here and disagree with the others. What we are experiencing is definitely NOT normal. We're used to having humid days, which by themselves are bad enough, but normally we do not have so many days that are both hot and humid, creating high dew points.
I have lived here for 20 years and do not remember a summer with so many heat advisory days. Sure, we get a few of those days, but for weeks now nearly every day a heat advisory has been issued and the heat index has been 102-110!

The current weather is very standard for this time of the year, at least for the 35 years I've been alive.

Honestly, I don't ever recall saying a July or August was "uncharacteristically hot" or "uncharacteristically cool." It is always just "hot and humid."

OTOH I have a much keener sense of cold... a difference of a few degrees during the winter makes a big difference to me.

Also, you'll hear residents talking more about spring or fall being hotter or cooler than normal. I think this is because these are the best (short) times of the year here so people are particularly sensitive to whether it is too cool or too hot to have the windows in the house open.

I would say its a pretty normal summer. The dog days of summer is what it is.
I just got off the phone with a friend near San Diego and its hot there too.
110. No humidity. Dry as a bone. For him, heck ya it's hot.

Its been hot all around the world this year. Temps in Siberia are high. Temps in North east U.S. are high.
