I hear of so many people (like Steve Duemig/Big Dog/WDAE) getting off of DUI charges. I guess police officers can botch the BAT, chain of custody, etc. I'd hate to see this guy get off over a technicality like that.

That is why they ALWAYS plead Not Guilty! Sad, but true.

You guys will get your wish.

Earlier this year, Florida passed a law stating that DUI Manslaughter requires a minimum mandatory of 4 years in state prison.

Quote:
A person who is convicted of DUI manslaughter shall be sentenced to a mandatory minimum term of imprisonment of 4 years.

He will be going to state prison.

Why does everyone think this guy is some rich guy who knows a lot of people. I know a lot of dentists who arent wealthy, just middle class Americans, and you can lease a cadillac CTS for like $369 a month.

If that makes you rich- then I would hate to see how you all are living.

And his booking picture? He looks weird because he was at a halloween party at jacksons- he is wearing crap on his face that looks like he tried to wipe it off at some point.

Not that I think this guy isn't a piece of crap, but do you think we may going out on a limb impying he is entitled or a social elitist? or judging him on a picture that was taken on halloween?

Maybe we should be focusing on the tragedy and the problem rather than going on about how rich people are bad, when in reality he could be pulling in 60K a year and leasing his cadillac.

Unfortunately, this guy will probably go hire Barry Cohen or some other high profile lawyer and come out of this with a light sentence. The charge that will probably put him in the most jeapordy of jail is the battery on an LEO.

He is a Moderator cut: language DENTIST that drives a cadillac CTS. why does everyone think he is some rich social elitist? HE IS A DENTIST. You could be a cashier at publix and buy a used CTS.

What the hell do you all do for a living that you think a dentist is part of the Tampa social elite?

give me a break people. How do you know he wont get a public defendant. According to other threads on this forum, people like him who are "rich" are credit card rich. He might not have any money for all you know.

I heard the inmates will be filling his cavities... But that's another discussion for another time.

He may not be "rich" but he most likely has resources to hire good defense. BTW, when you post $119,000 bond, that all but disqualifies you from getting a public defender. There are numerous forms to fill out to prove indigency to get a PD, I don't think he qualifies. The only reason this guy sat in jail as long as he did is they can't cut you loose until you sober up, they check BAC levels hourly to determine when your released, otherwise he would have been out before the ink dried on his booking paperwork.
