If you work at the Air Force Base, which city/zip code would you buy a single house (or a townhouse) that cost less than $200,000, within 30 minute commute to work?

Is Dale Mabry Highway a real highway? How bad is it during rush hours?

That area can be iffy. I wouldn't buy a home in an area without knowing what else is around it. Most of that area is old homes from the 50s or earlier.

Brandon, Riverview or S. Tampa might be a better fit.

What about schools are they important to you? What else is important to you?

Dale Mabry is VERY busy with lots of stop lights. It would take you at least 45 minutes during rush hour. Earlier times not so bad but rain causes lots of accidents.

School is not important.

Isn't Brandon and Riverview too far of a commute to Air Force Base? How long of a commute during rush hour are we dealing with here?

Brandon and Riverview are a little over 30 minutes on a toll road. You get a lot more for your money and newer homes in Riverview.

You should also check out Citrus Park, if your work times are not 'normal' work hours you can get to MacDill around 30 minutes.

S. Tampa is as close as you can get to MacDill. In another thread someone posted that there are some new[er] homes in Interbay off of Westshore right next to the AFB. If you are in the military I know you realize the good and bad about living next door to the AFB. There are some iffy areas in S. Tampa too especially South of Gandy.

There is also Feather Sound not sure the price range there though. You really need to get a realtor to guide you. We have some excellent ones who are members here.

Florida Homes for Sale direct from MLS

Check Zillow.com for home prices in that area

What's the Brandon area like? Any good parks, restaurants, and other shops and entertainments around?
