My family and I are flying down from Ohio for a week to have some fun and check out properties for our projected move this summer.

So be at your best behavior, pick up some litter, and plaster a "Welcome home" look on your face. If you are worthy we will return and bring our vast treasury of ill-advised dreams and good intentions.

Ah, such innocence and sweet charity.
Enjoy a few hours of good humour, upbeat mood and positive vibes before the usual coterie of Florida begrudgers and naysayers on here wake up to yet another sunny day devoted to dumping their usual load of pessimism and cynicism on you from their very own corner of Loserville,Fl.( Population: Them )
Good luck with recce

You may want to fly down again for a week in the summer BEFORE you make the final move. Just sayin'...

And fine - bringing your dreams and good intentions - but bring money too!

Yeah, summer is the best time to move here. I tell people move here in July and August and you won't be disaapointed with the rest of the year .

I love these responses!

I was running through scenarios the other day and had a picture of myself sizzling in Sunshine state misery, remembering with fondness the refreshing cold air that so often blesses those who have the tenacity to remain tethered to the higher latitudes. I recalled my time in Durbin, South Africa when I despaired because of the impossibility of ever being dry due the the un-air-conditioned and inescapable humidity. I fantasized then about diving into a vat of talcum powder.

I am anticipating latching on to consuming meaningful relationships and pursuits in your beautiful state that will help me transcend the punishment of the heat and humidity and render it a minor challenge. I am certain that Florida affords many more rich opportunities for recreation and family fun than my present environ which has all of the excitement of a DMV waiting room.

I find Floridians interesting, from the old time laid back folks I knew when I came here in 1970 to the transient transplants and corresponding cranky natives on this forum. This forum has also impressed me by the involvement of knowledgeable and patient posters whom I think are genuinely interested in the welfare of the many
naive, starry-eyed sun seekers. I have been embraced in friendship and cajoled as well but it's all good.

It does sound a bit like Dr. Smith from Lost In Space.

Dr. Zachary Smith: You'll forgive me if I forgo the kiss, my sleeping behemoth. But the time has come to awake.
Robot: Robot is on-line. Reviewing primary directives. One, preserve the Robinson Family. Two, Maintain ship systems. Three
Dr. Zachary Smith: What noble charges my steely centurion. Sadly I fear you have far more dire deeds in store for you.
Robot: Robot is on-line. Reviewing primary directives. Two hours into mission destroy Robinson family. Destroy all systems.
Dr. Zachary Smith: Now that's more like it. Farewell my platinum-plated-pal. Give my regards to oblivion.
