I absolutely love Amazon prime. It's $99 btw, not $119, up form $79. Worth it to me because I don't have cable or satellite and use Amazon Prime instant video for most of my tv watching. It's the same price as Netflix so I'm not really paying for any shipping on things I buy at Amazon. Amazon just made a deal with HBO too, so they're going to have some of their shows and movies exclusively. Not great for Netflix. Also, if you have a Kindle, Amazon lets you have a book a month. If you're a reader, that pays for the Prime membership as well.

Amazon also has amazing customer service - no hassle returns. If you buy expired ink cartridges, you can send them back for a full refund. Make sure you also leave appropriate feedback for the seller. You have to check the seller you're buying from if it's not Amazon - just like on Ebay.
My bad. It was all over the news in January-February time frame about Amazon Prime price increase to $119. As for me, I never had it for $79, but I am glad it's working out for you.

I know about price change on Amazon, but when I said diapers and baby wipes went up in price, I wanted to say the price went up in general, and yes it keep changes a little hourly, but still up compare to last year prices.

As for ink cartridges, the expiration date is usually on the box, and most sellers including Amazon itself ship ink cartridges without original box (to save some space maybe? not sure why), so there is no way to know if cartridge is good. You are taking a chance. It's OK until bad cartridge is not leaking and destroying your printer. Believe it or not it's hard to return cartridge after you started using it. I tried. And I left a negative feedback to sellers, and they contacted me and offered to mail the same ink cartridges again, and did - in exchange of deleting negative review comment. I received new ones and no original box again, and my printer showed 15% full after test run (and 99% full after I installed cartridge purchased at local store).

Yes, I agree it's easy to deal with Amazon in general and they even let you keep inexpensive items if you returning it. But it's not as great as it was (at least for me). If I need to buy anything there, I always spend $35 and get free shipping anyways without paying extra penny

I am unlikely to renew my Prime membership or shop on Amazon much more due to the collection of taxes on purchases.

Its not their fault that they have to collect sales tax in FL.

FL law says that if a business has a physical presence in the state they must collect FL sales tax on their sales. Until they built their new facilities they did not have to collect sales taxes in FL.

The law also requires FL citizens to pay sales tax to the state for on line purchases for sales made by retailers that do not have a presence in FL.

Sure, if someone else is going to have it cheaper, I'd go to them, but if Amazon has it cheaper with the sales tax added on,I am going to deal with them.

They decided to build in FL, so yes it's their fault.

I don't have problem with taxes, I don't like they increased prices on a lot of things and taxes on top make no sense to shop with them anymore.

Hope the new Amazon facility is doing well down there. I happen to work for Amazon in Murfreesboro, TN. I think it's a pretty good job. There aren't many places that pay $11.25/hr for unskilled labor. An earlier comment mentioned a lady complaining that she got fired for not picking orders fast enough. Walking 12-15 miles a day is tiring but the job is not that hard. You get four weeks from when you're first hired before you're expected to get 100% rate. Plus, you go through a process of several verbal and written warnings before being fired. Most of the pickers are college age but there are some that are in their 50s and 60s. Pretty much anyone should be able to do the job.
Another commenter mentioned getting time off. We work four 10 hour days a week, except during peak season from Thanksgiving to Christmas. There is actually quite a bit of time off you can take, too. You get 40 hours of vacation that accrues a little at a time each pay period. You get 80 ours of unpaid time off that accumulates at 20 hours per quarter. You also get paid time off that accumulates in a similar way to how you get vacation time. I think that's 80 hours a year also but I don't remember offhand. You have to give 24 hours notice to take vacation time. The other two you don't have to give any notice though they ask you to let them know an hour in advance if you're going to leave work early.
The insurance is also very good. For myself I pay a few cents under $30 each pay period (biweekly) for medical, dental, and vision. My blood pressure medicine costs $1.53 per month. It's only $8 even with no insurance but that's a significant discount.
Another thing they do is pay 95% of tuition and books to go to college if you've worked for them at least one year. It's not for all majors, but it includes things such as nursing, which won't be used at Amazon.
No job is perfect but you'd be hard pressed to find a better place to work if you're low- or unskilled.

Thank you for giving us the inside scoop on what it's like to work for Amazon. I've been impressed with their service and merchandise and it's nice to know they treat their employees right as well.

You're welcome. Funny thing is, I rarely order from Amazon. I've ordered only one thing since I started working there in June. I do plan to get a new cell phone when I get my next pay check.
Another perk we have is 10% off orders up to $1000 per year. However it only works for items fulfilled by Amazon and not third party sellers.
