Being a somewhat new resident to downtown St. Pete (I am right on Central downtown) I am looking for a good spot to watch football when the season starts? I love that I can walk or ride my bike basically anywhere, but one thing I haven't noticed is sports bar options.

Other than Ferg's, where is a good place to watch sports? Maybe a place with a lot of TVs so I can peak at every NFL game being played? I took a look online at Midtown Sundries which is close by, but from the pics they seem to lack a lot of TVs? Is this the case? Is MacDintons a good place to watch football?

On a hope and a dream... I am a Cleveland Browns fan... any chance there is a Browns bar near by?

I am also a Bucs fan but I'm sure they will be on anywhere... for college football I am a Seminoles fan, any chance there is a Noles bar?

Let me know sports fans... thanks

I think most USF games are televised, even the home games.

I was going to recommend Fergs - but you already know about that.

Where I live there is a Linksters' Tap that carries all the games on HDTV via Sunday Ticket.

Always cool to have a place you can count on every Sunday to see your fav team. Here's a search. Can't vouch for any of the places. I never really liked Fergs - only went there once.

Here's a link of all the registered Browns' Backers in the state of Florida: Cleveland Browns

Luckily for me, there's one 5 min away up Dale Mabry. I think for you it's probably between Clearwater, Indian Rocks, and Bradenton.

Never to late to adopt the home team here in TB.

I wouldn't reccomend Midtown Sundries. I had a few poor experiences there.

Fergs is about as good as it gets in terms of sports bars in downtown St. Pete. Always a festive atmosphere on gameday Sundays.

I am not a USF fan, I am an FSU grad and would like to watch those games but most of them are televised nationally so I may be okay, thanks.

I do love the Buccaneers and attend a couple of games a year, but I know they where be on pretty much everywhere locally (when they are not blacked out) so I was just wondering more about my native Cleveland Browns down this way.

Thank you for the suggestions.

my fault - somehow I must have hallucinated and read USF instead of FSU. Must be getting a bad case of dsyeliax, I mean dyslexia.

If you don't mind traveling a bit, I've had some great Sundays with friends at Biff Burger (3939 49th St N). They dedicate a TV to each game on the back wall (and even put up little signs on each TV so you can find your spot before the game starts), and we can all watch "our" games at the same time. The food and beer is inexpensive and they make a great burger.

Even better but a little further north is the St Pete Ale House (7901 MLK N). They have dozens of huge (50+ inch), HD big screens throughout the restaurant, bar and gaming areas, so you can set up shop near the TV you want to watch.

I like the food at Midtown Sundries, but they have to do something about those tiny, tiny screens scattered around the place and the horrible DLP big screens. That place might have looked cool before the advent of the flat screen TV, but they need to bit the bullet and spend five or ten grand on new TVs. They would make that money back during a few weekends of football.

The Hooters on 4th is worthless for watching football, unless you are looking for the Bucs or UF game. I was with a group of friends looking to watch the Lightning game one day and the manager flatly refused to change a single one of the 25 TVs in the place.
