I havent flown in or out of Tampa international before so was hoping someone could give me some info on how easy/hard it is to get through. I have flown a lot and some airports are just a pain in the rear. I have to fly to Syracuse Monday morning for work and want to make sure I give myself plenty of time. If my flight is at 0830 should I be there the usual 2 hours before departure. Also how busy is Veterans at say 0530/0600? I take it to work (down by the airport) from Land O Lakes around seven and it is stop and go all the way. Thanks in advance for any info....

I had to work down there for a few weeks earlier in the year because our client was having meetings at the Marriott. They wanted me onsite at 6AM every day and it was a breeze getting down there that early. As far as the airport itself goes, I think it's pretty easy to navigate through.

Thanks HW....thats good to know. I leave my house at about 0715 to be at work at the office building next to the Hyatt near the airport at 0900 and get there some days with 15 min to spare and some days just barely on time. My company just closed the Cali office so I will be doing 11am to 8pm soon to accommodate the west cost clients and cant wait so I dont have to deal with the traffic.

Rolling down at 10AM will work out nicely for you. That's when I try to leave my house if I need to go down that way for work.

I'd still be there the 2 hrs ahead of time. I've had both experiences at TPA where I checked in quickly and also where it took forever. Hard to determine what you'll get. It's a lot like Orlando where there's the hub of the airport and then you'll have to shuttle to your gates. You go through security after you shuttle and sometimes those lines are long...but since you can't see them from the main airport area you have to guess.

It's not a bad airport, but it's hardly the best. Like MCO you have to take that stupid train/shuttle to the gates which can really slow you down coming and going. I like RDU because you can get in and out quickly.

RDU was okay, but can't compare to Tampa. My wife travels the entire country in her career and Tampa Airport was one of the reasons why we chose this area, having previously used RDU. The old RDU went down the crapper and the new section is sterile and bland.

TIA is a great airport. Its not all spread out like some major airports. The tram system is easy to use and runs frequently. An hour from the time you walk in the doors to the time you are at the boarding gate is usually sufficient.
Just be prepared at the TSA inspection points. A stop by their website for the latest rules and regulations would be advisable.
