Here is the actual figure:

"A.P. Bell and M.S. Weinberg, in their classic study of male and female homosexuality, found that 43 percent of white male homosexuals had sex with 500 or more partners, with 28 percent having 1,000 or more sex partners."

What is the average number of sex partners a gay man has in a lifetime

The Health Risks of Gay Sex

By the way, half of gay men still have unprotected sex TODAY even after AIDS is universally known:

You're talking a lot of nonsense.

Here's the review on your citation...

Homosexualities: A Study of Diversity Among Men and Women - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Scholarly reception
Some of the book's findings are outdated. Homosexualities is the study most commonly cited to prove that gay men are sexually promiscuous, but it was not based on a broad sample, and a more recent and extensive University of Chicago study, Edward O. Laumann et al's The Social Organization of Sexuality: Sexual Practices in the United States, produced different results. Laumann et al found that homosexual and bisexual men reported an average of 3.1 sex partners in the previous 12 months, which was well above the 1.8 reported by heterosexual men...

Health Department Highlights Health Risks of Unprotected Anal Sex among Heterosexual Women in New York City
April 21, 2010 – Unprotected anal sex poses well known health hazards for men, but new research suggests that the practice is a significant health issue for women as well. More than 100,000 New York City women engage in anal intercourse each year, according to a new report from the Health Department, and many are not taking the steps needed to prevent HIV and other sexually transmitted infections.

Anal membranes are easily damaged during sex, facilitating the spread of infection. Past studies suggest that anal exposure to HIV poses 30 times more risk than vaginal exposure. But the New York City findings suggest that women are less likely than men who have sex with men to use condoms during anal sex. The figure is just 23%, according to the new report, compared to 61% among men who have sex with other men. The full report is available at nyc.gov/health.

So gay men are protecting themselves 3 x's moreso than str8 women do. I'm sorry, what is it again that you were trying to say?

Credit the fact that a great number of Floridians are armed and ready. And our laws allow citizens to defend themselves.

Amazing, really.

We're trying to discern what happened in the 1980s. Obviously, any study on this topic will be "outdated". A more recent study would be completely worthless for telling us about what happened back then.

That's not a review. That's a denunciation. THIS is exactly why we have the AIDS epidemic. Any attempt to address the problem leads to hurt feelings and we just can't have that.

Maybe with the aging population people tend to mellow out as they get older. I know I have mellowed over the years. Going from an intense kid to a mellow late 40 something now.

That's definitely true. Anti-social men do mellow out quite a bit as they age.

That your citation might have been denounced by the review is not telling of the review, it's telling of the citation. You seem confused.

The review simply notes that the survey you quoted was not taken from a broad enough sampling. Further, it provides a more relevant survey in characterizing sexual habits which happens to not coincide to your earlier rant about gay people. It does say gay people enjoy more sex, well, no kidding. Boy, there's a surprise. But not quite how you mischaracterize it, huh? Rather by a margin of 1.7 to 1. Not even 2 to 1? Talk about disappointing. They need to stop bragging, huh?

I find it hard to believe that you are not being disingenuous to say here that you are trying to discern what happened in the 80s because what you did was to mischaracterize an entire segment of the population. Calling you out on that is not a matter of hurt feelings but of setting the record, um, str8.

Let's talk more about the unprotected sex habits indulged by 75% of the heterosexuals who enjoy anal sex. Do you think when they contract HIV from unprotected anal sex that they risk passing it on to their unborn babies? Gay people probably don't do that.

Cuba would have quarantined those babies. Because, as you've already told us...

I'm impressed by your encyclopaedic knowledge of the ins-and-outs of gay sex.
