I was thinking about it too. I am wondering what played the role. As far as I know state is implementing warning devices by installing it on the ramps. Not talking about exact area where accident happened, but usually it's hard to block path for cars entering in opposite direction. I am not sure if enough studies were done, but this flashing light you see on the ramps (for example ramp from I-75 towards new mall outlet if you coming from south) are all over the place now. Will it help drunk people to understand they are driving in the wrong direction? Not sure. Morons have no brain really.

Agree, I have noticed it has got progressively worse in the last 20-30 years. Possibly due to all of people moving here from out of state and/or other countries/territories. Bringing bad habits with them.

I wonder why they won't name the controlled substance? Weed or heroin or what? Who are they protecting?

Also note most of these wrong way events are well after midnight but before sunrise, when impaired drivers mostly have the roads to themselves and the FHP.

the lack of other vehicles on the roadways for the drugged up driver/intox driver to follow probably has something to do with it - they're so confused, messed up, lost that they enter the wrong way onto interstates unknowingly.....

Tampa is the only place I've lived where this is such a regular occurrence that locals don't even bat an eye at it anymore.

same here - and pretty much anyone can be a victim - especially if you travel in the evening, nighttime hours when most of these occur....
