"...further away from the crime center"? Typical city-data poster misinformation. Where's that, this supposed center of crime, Sarasota?, where, according to city-data, the "ratio of number of residents in Sarasota to the number of sex offenders is 193 to 1", speaking of "the crime center".

Again, the crime maps above show just a segment of Carrollwood but show the entire town of Temple Terrace. As I've already noted according to the crime maps....

"looking at between 1/3rd and 1/4th of Carrollwood, in the random recent week selected, just last week, we find Carrollwood with 75% more burglaries (again, in just that small area). Plus Carrollwood has 7x's more batteries (a criminal offense involving unlawful physical contact) & 21 x's more thefts & 8x's more drug arrests & 9 times more mischief arrests "

Crime center that!

As to distances to the beach, more nonsense. Because of easy access to better roads in Temple Terrace, while there might be a few miles of extra distance to the beach, time-wise the difference of 5 minutes is negligible as shown below...

Someone who says about a place as you did "much further away from the crime center" when there is no crime center there--and most certainly no center of crime particularly relative to the comparison of the OP--is the person with issues. Correcting your misinformation about a place which you willfully cast misguiding aspersions upon is not a matter of my having issues. It is merely a plain and simple matter of objectively correcting your prejudiced misinformation. That you have a problem with someone correcting your attempt to unjustifiably malign an area is also a matter of your issues. Perhaps you might work on correcting your own issues before attempting to wrongly denigrate a person for presenting information shown correct by statistics provided by respective local police & sheriff departments.

Thanks to all of you who took the time to provide feedback. No need to argue about things. I appreciate both opinions and am willing to look into what both/all parties have to say. I really just want to make sure the areas we are narrowing down are safe areas with good schools for my kids. I do medical device sales so I'm constantly traveling all over the state of Florida and heading to the airport. Knowing my wife and kids are in a safe area and that my kids are getting a great education - those are my two primary concerns in life.

I know this may sound stupid, but I am truly ignorant about the Tampa area and learn more each time I am down there. What is "Suit Case City"? I can tell already that it's not a good area, so I'm glad to hear what it's called, but do not know where it is or what it is. I can tell it's an area I'd want to avoid, but are there other areas you would definitely stay clear of?

Thanks to all for sharing their knowledge!
