You're probably right.

Both of them are still open here. The "old" WD is just a hair closer to me, but at the "new" (former Sweetbay) WD, it's much easier to get in and out, depending on the time of day.

I recently discovered a gem of a store in St. Pete. It won't replace having to go to a standard grocery for run-of-the-mill items like paper products, detergents, cleaners, but this place has absolutely the best selection of proteins, deli items, bakery, fresh made pasta daily, cheeses, wines......oh, I'm getting hungry all over again.

Prices are more than fair compared to what I paid in AZ and DC.

Try it, you'll thank me.

I've always found Aldi's to best the cheapest and Publix to be the most expensive. Sweetbay has high prices on some items too.

Speculation grows that Kroger will buy Winn-Dixie to enter Florida -- definitely would be an upgrade. Used Krogers a lot when living up in Georgia - good grocery store, imo.

This is great news. We had Kroger near us in the Atlanta suburbs. They give Publix a good run for the money. They seemed to have the same products as Publix with better prices. They also had rebates on gas based on how much you spent. The stores near us in Johns Creek/Alpharetta were also nicer than the Publix but this is not true for all locations.

I loved Kroger when we lived in Cincinnati. Their house brand products were good and their gas rewards were an added bonus. It'd be a big upgrade from Winn Dixie. Btw, Winn Dixie entered the Cincy market and went out of business there.

That would be a HUGE upgrade from WD. I absolutely love Publix, but we had Kroger back in Indiana and I'd totally give them some of my business if they showed up down here. Their store brand is fantastic, and their produce and meat as well. WD on the other hand, if I never set foot in another one that'd be fine by me.
