Hi All. We'll be down for the weekend from ATL next month, and I would really appreciate any/all opinions on the Colonnade.

I have wonderful memories of this place as a kid years ago, and was pleasantly surprised to find out they are still around. Is it as good as I remember?

Thanks in advance!

Yes, it is as good as you remember.

(how is anyone supposed to answer that?)

I'd guess if you've recently gone to the Colonnade, you'd give a recommendation if you liked it or be critical of the restaurant if it's a dive. I haven't been there since the 80's. Was one of my long passed grandmother's (RIP) favorite outings. Bayshore BLVD is always a fun drive - love that part of the city.

I did have the chance to go to Berns Steakhouse nearby and really didn't enjoy the experience whatsoever - loud, interior of the restaurant is very morbid looking (whorehouse appearance or funeral home appearance).....service was good though...

I guess you missed the point of my question.

But yes, I've been there recently and it was good.

I don't know what your memories are but it is a nice restaurant still.

LOL! Yeah, it was late and I was tired - that is a strange question!

Thanks, all! Much appreciated. My Grandmother took me there too, it was one of her favorite places in the State. I have memories of some of the best broiled shrimp ever...

The wife and I have never had a bad meal or bad service there. Consistently a quality experience.

I went last fall. It was too crowded and the food was just mediocre. The view was good.

We moved here about a year ago and ride past daily to get to work, it is always busy so we made it a point to go last month. TERRIBLE! Boxes mini muffins, frozen breaded catfish and shrimp, overcooked french fries mixed with soggy sweet potato fries.. just all around horrible, outdated interior below mediocre. Last week we went to a hole in the wall on Gandy called the Crabshack..thats where its at, crab claws and fresh seafood made me feel like I was back on the Coast (Mississippi) at very resonable prices.

Maybe it was just us, but I did notice that everyone there was over the age of 60, so maybe they are still going off what the place used to be.
