I think some come to Florida with the idea that it's some kind of 365 days per year paradise, but it's not. So how do these hurricanes factor into how much you like the area? When it gets down to 20 degrees a few days a year in FL, most flip out. A hurricane is no joke, but FL residents are incredibly soft when it comes to the weather in lesser events.

A hurricane is just a very small price to pay for living here, Tampa hasn't been hit with a hurricane in over 100 years so its not like it happens often. I wish we would get more of them, keep people from wanting to move here like they do.

Been here since 1963 and never had to deal with a real hurricane yet until now. Just close calls and blow bys. As for 20 it got down to 19 in Tampa on Xmas of 83 so that is as rare as a cane jane. We no longer even get into the 30's much anymore with a rapid warming planet janet. I hate it here cuz of the heat pete and dewpoints 9 months out of the year.

Well Feb 19th/20th of 2015 was "cold" enough for people to say they survived the winter.

Some places have earthquakes, mudslides, immense floods, tornadoes, blizzards, ice storms, snow.

Florida has sunshine, rain, relatively small floods, an occasional hurricane, fast passing summer thunder storms and a sinkhole here and there. I would say that overall Florida can be a paradise depending on where you are, what you're doing and who your doing it with. I've lived in and around this state for 50 years. I've also been all around the country and, as a sailor in the US Navy, I've seen and been to a lot of countries. Out of them all, I am most happy at home in Florida.l

Only here until I can retire in a few yrs.
I don't own nor owe anything here.
No family here, no ties.
Only a state job with a pension attached.
That's the carrot that dangles in front of me keeping me here.
Then it's somewhere out west.
Still weighing my options for a future relocation.

Great experience with neighbors in the community who all came out to support everyone who needed assistance with preparing for the storm. These were great neighbors before the storm and have shown how really great they are coming out in force to help one another.
