Hi all,

At many of your recommendations, my brother and I are headed to St Pete's for a long weekend in April. it'll be nice to escape the colder weather of NJ. We were unsure if we should stay downtown or towards the beach. After some thought, we decided on downtown, as it seems there is more to do, and the beach is a 20 minute ride anyway. Can anyone recommend a hotel in downtown St. Pete that is within walking distance to attractions/nightlife/bars?

Thanks in advance.

There is a beach downtown you can walk to just a little past the marina on the bay. not sure on hotels.

there are a few hotels downtown. most are independant and not part of a chain. However, there is a Hilton downtown which is very close to where all the action is. Also there is a bus service which will take you too and from the beach.

St Pete's? Where does this strange name come from? It has been "St Pete" for more than the 47 years since I first came here.

Hilton probably the best choice, probably not cheap - Vinoy looks very nice (and expensive) marina area St Pete's.

I am a huge fan of The Hollander. Great location and i actually enjoy spending time there. Popular with the locals as well.
