Hi everyone! My family and I will be visiting Florida (Tampa area) at the end of August. My husband loves fishing, and catching fresh seafood, as well as fruit picking. Do you have any recommendations where we can do these activities, and what kinds of fruits are in season in August? Thank you!

End of August is pretty much out of season for anything in the way of fruit in this area that I can think of.

All sorts of public fishing locations, depending on where you will be in the area. Where you will be will determine what's available - the fishing piers along the Sunshine Skyway, the beaches or piers on the Howard Franklin, etc. Be sure to get the proper license, as FWC likes to bust people for fishing without a license.

In Clearwater Beach there are charter boats that go out deep sea fishing.

Scalloping could be fun:
Bay Scallops

Plenty of fishing charters that take you out scalloping too.

If you want to pick fruits, Plant City area would be your best choice

Blue Crabbing at night was our best shot on Friday nites....Man...we caught coolers full for Saturday dining....I haven't lived there in Largo in ages and I have no idea if the blue crabs still come in with the tides, but that was Fun, Free and Delicious.

South of Starkey and Park Blvd, The end of Ulmerton Road before the Frankland...around the Intracoastal..it was come and get them...The chicken necks worked wonders...Check with the Now Locals there, they can probably give you better pointers than I can ever from Miami.

It's fun under the moonlight. Or sometimes flashlights of course !!!
