I am planning to relocate to the Tampa/St. Pete/ Clearwater area. Any hospital recommendations? (I am a maternity nurse) I am currently interviewing with several. Also looking for a good school district (I've read the stats but they are not always true to life) Looking for a neighborhood that a 30 year old single mom would fit, preferably close to the beach, low crime, walkable and affordable. Does such a place exist? Thanks for your help.

Not in Tampa.

Crime is everywhere.

Mease Dunedin is a good hospital and the area around it is very nice.

Dunedin is a great area, low crime and walkable. I am not sure about the schools.
Also my daughter was born at Mease Dunedin.

Just a little north of Clearwater but very close to the beach.

Morton Plant is good, but I don't know about their maternity ward.

Crime is everywhere, though.

Exclamation Who is responsible for all the crime in tampa

why are there so many pockets of crime and what are they doing about it? Where are these areas because i want to avoid them. when i drive through clearwater to get to clearwater beach, i admit that i get scared from all the scuzzy people outside walgreen's for example.

By the #'s it's going down, but in reality Tampa is really very dangerous city.

Its not quite a Detroit or Philadelphia, but its not to far behind on a % scale. (I realize its not nearly as large as those two cities)

I would look elsewhere if you want safety.

Have you ever lived in Tampa?

Or are you posts based on what you have read online or in the papers?

Yes. While there are pockets that are bad the overall area is not bad at all.

To say that Tampa is a very dangerous is just not true.

So you would feel safe having your wife or daughter out for a night on the town in Tampa and not be concerned for their safety.

Lets say in a popular place like Ybor City.
