So I recently took a Flixbus back to the Tampa area from a short trip, and the stop is right by the Marion Transit Center.
As I waited for my Uber ride to get back home, I couldn't help but notice all of the tents, carts, bags, etc., strewn along Morgan Street and all along Scott Street under I-275.

I haven't seen anything this bad in the other major cities in Florida -- not in Miami, not in Orlando. There are homeless there too, but certainly not at the concentration level I encountered there.

What is going on over there?

And why is Flixbus using THAT corner as their stop?

That's where most of the unhoused congregate in the downtown area. Many spots in the downtown area, such as Gaslight Park, have been made "off limits" by removing benches and places where one could sit or lay down. Gaslight Park was a popular place since it's right in front of the Tampa Police Department, hence it was a safe place.

I've noticed this too in Tampa, and I don't see it in any other city anywhere else in Florida.

Head north on N. Nebraska Ave. from downtown and you'll see lots more. Especially Trinity Cafe and Borrell Park areas.

I actually wasn’t aware of this, but it sounds just like the tent city that used to exist under 375 in St. Pete.

It may be the times we are living in. Might well be that if you went back and looked at comparable areas in Miami and Orlando, you'd find the homeless population has increased there also.

Yep, been saying that Tampa homeless problem is worse than what I saw in California this summer. I see more homeless on a Tuesday morning Starbucks run in South Tampa than I saw during a whole month in California.

I was in Miami in August and saw 1 homeless person.

Don't believe the fake news media. It's not just California and NY with homeless tent cities. There's plenty in South Tampa.
