We are considering moving to Westchase. Two professionals, no kids, but planning kids at some point. My job requires a commute between Carrolwood and Tarpon Springs, so Westchase seems midway. We will most likely rent for a while, but want opinions on nice neighborhoods. Westchase seemed really nice when we visited. Comments? Other areas to consider? Thanks!

Westchase is a really nice area. Close to a mall and other shopping. You can find anything you need/want close by. The only downside is traffic during rush hour is heavy trying to get home, but that is almost anywhere in Tampa. Depending on where you work and the hours it will take anywhere from 30 - 45 mins normally for a 12 mile ride during rush hour.

Yes! Westchase is a lovely area and would be somewhere I would choose to live if everything wasn't over thi way for me. You will be happy with your choice to live out that way!

Ditto to the previous posts...Westchase is a really nice place. It's also holding steady in the current economic downturn with average single family home sales prices ranging around $156+ per square foot. Of the 250 properties on the retail market this year, there were only 34 short sales/bank owned, so it's not the foreclosure mess that newer communities are coping with.

Also in the immediate area are Waterchase, West Hampton, Countryway, Eagles, Highland Park, Twin Branch and Citrus Park. There's a lot of inventory, though, so take your time and make a choice that works for you.
