In my opinion the poster will be happier in St. Pete than in Tampa, properly.
As to the rednecks, You have all discussed that , so I won't go into that .

Are there any up north? Uh, of course. So what's the difference? All the redneck and FL native bashing gets old.
I agree. "Redneck" is a negative stereotype. There are some good country folk who are quickly written off because they drive pickup trucks and have a rebel flag in their yard. Some of the best people I have met were hard working country folk.

Duh---the OP isn't asking about race at all. The OP is asking about whether GAYS (if you read what was written) will be kindly accepted or on the other hand will they be shunned.

To the OP--check out Historic Kenwood. It's a great little area in St. Pete that is very gay friendly. In fact, you can be comfortable knowing that they are friendly and tolerant to all types of people and families there. It's a lovely little community that I think you'd find difficult NOT to like!

Not too many rednecks in St. Pete proper any more-probably can't afford to live here now. The surrounding area (Lealman, Largo, Pinellas Park) is a different story, though. The people of St. Pete are pretty accepting of anyone who isn't a complete jerk. Wasn't always that way, but the city has taken a more live and let live turn in recent years.

I agree with Judipatooti.. Look in Kenwood. I have a friend who has lives there with his partner. They love it there although the homes are older

Yea, he'll probably fit in just as easily as if he were gonna move to Southern California.. although probably even better in St Pete than in Orange County.

Yeah, there are a lot. Just look at all the pickup trucks on the road. You wouldn't see nearly this many trucks on the roads in say, New York or LA.

Unfortunately, code enforcement in St. Petersburg is inadequate at best. I've been trying for all most two years to get the city to shut down the junk yard my hillbilly, Serbian neighbor runs out of his back yard. I'm beginning to think someone's getting bought off.
