Depends on why you're moving here. If you're an older adult Clearwater would likely be fine for you. If you're a single 20-something that likes to go out and have a good time, you'll probably be disappointed in Clearwater. Sure you have the great beaches, but the nightlife here is basically non-existent and downtown is a joke, thanks to the efforts of the scientology spooks.

If you fall in that single, 20-something demographic, your best bet would be to live in St. Petersburg or just avoid Pinellas County altogether.

We never get hit by a onshore bound hurricane. Last hit in Tampa was in 1921. Not saying it won't ever happen, could be this year or another 50.

It was a 3. Just think what a CAT5 would do coming up the pipe making landfall around Tarpon springs.

I'm from Ohio as well(Youngstown and Cleveland). I can say I love it here. I live in Palm Harbor just north of Clearwater and I work in Clearwater. I have not seen any horrible neighbor hoods nor does there seem to be much crime. St Pete has some great areas, but there are some ghetto areas down there and it seems like the majority of the crime on the news is from St Pete.
