I live in S. Tampa and work in Clearwater, I am usually in Pinellas County in 10-15 min, I could go up Louis to 275 or down Manhattan to Gandy, Today I left my house at 840am I was in Clearwater at 9am. In the Afternoon it sucks, but it sucks for everyone leaving Pinellas, the traffic into tampa is heavy morning or afternoon I don't get it.

I love Clearwater, and find it much more relaxing to drive or live period, but work in Tampa by the Intl mall, since they fixed the spaggetti getting on to RT 60 it is really good- but the Causeway must be opend up,,, 6 lanes folks- but they are spending x million to make a nice runners lane for bikers n joggers? Where is this productive?? Again city planners and folks who live with the bumps make these decisions. They are NOT open to change -even though Tampa bay is now the 2nd biggest town in Fla.. and no I will not call it a city, it's a big ol town. You want to create new jobs etc etc, then you must open up your traffic lanes and be friendly to outsiders.

exactly. Its also not Palm beach (where the kennedy house is/was) La Jolla, Dubai, or Waikiki. South Tampa people who think that living in South tampa gives them some kind of "status" are posers and kidding themselves. Go look at the real mansions and wealthy areas in south florida and then compare it to tampa. Incomparable.

You're suggesting a six lane highway?! If people would use the left lane only for passing and merge to the right if they're not going fast, congestion issues will reduce significantly. It's not rocket-science. Supporting additional lanes is not "change"; it's supporting the status quo. Changing driver behavior is the solution. Solution for traffic congestion

hahah- there are areas and there are areas- I used to live in S tampa many centuries ago when it was 99% military- but the generals' /colonels lived one area the other peeons in another - so nothings changed, you can see probably by the price of the home? and why are people snobs- why? unhappy folks how I see it.

It may even be friendlier than St Pete in many parts now too. Sure its more money but to me that doesn't always mean more snobs. Personally I think Old Northeast in St Pete is a lot worse for snobbery. People underestimate that I think but I don't. If I had to pick out of the 2, I'd say ST is more down to earth personally. Tampa as a whole is a more real city anyhow. The bad parts are real and so are the good ones.

I'd still say Old NE in St Pete is more snobby than South Tampa. Everyone I met from South Tampa or when I went to Davis Island seemed nicer actually. I didn't see this whole snob attitude thing as much but then again, I didn't think S Howard had as many shops and nightlife like people made it out either so who knows.. I do know its more expensive than a lot of St Pete but at the same time, probably not much more than Old NE in St Pete. It might even be the same now in price only. Personally I think the very Northside of St Pete toward Gandy compliments South Tampa more because its middle of the road, more affordable but you have a short drive to S Tampa if you want to do anything there also and it also beats Old NE in my eyes as its closer to Tampa but still close enough to downtown without being TOO close. I like the Gateway area.

After living in Tampa for 20 years, maybe you could call me a snob because you could not blast me out of here. I'll take the occassional snob if that's the price to live in what is about the most urban neighborhood in the city outside of downtown, Hyde Park or Ybor. South Dale Mabry may look somewhat suburban, but that strip has everything and it keeps getting better.
Personally ya, I'd either go with Gateway in St Pete OR South Tampa as far as 2 of the best areas in the whole TB. One is just more affordable than the other. Both also are close to the airport incase you are thinking of moving out of FL! LOL. I think some of Pinellas Park is nice that has access to Tampa as well but I'd go with the first 2. Tyrone area hell no. Too far from the airport and more sketchy. I am random, I speak my mind but yes.. I would easily say ST is one of the top residential parts of the TB area. Brandon I'd say has some nice parts but I think its more congested. So ya, Gateway and ST, 2 best. I'd consider Seminole as a 2nd though due to affordability.
