Husband will be working at Macdill and we need a place to move to with 5-10 acres for horses that is not a long commute. Any ideas?

Honestly, I think that is going to be a very difficult task as Mac Dill is located on the very south side of Tampa and is surrounded by a more developed/urban environment. Good Luck!

I agree with Yeates. Lutz and Odessa are the traditional areas for horses near Tampa. There are others of course like LOL and Wesley Chapel but they are even further out. I would guess that if you are driving from either of those places to MacDill during regular rush hour traffic it will take over an hour. I can'r think of anything closer to Mac Dill where you could have 5+ acres and keep horses.

A friend of mine stables her horses in Zephyrhills but lives in Tampa. Although not an ideal arrangement, may be something for you to to consider, at least in the short term, if you have trouble locating a suitable property

I'd recommend somewhere in Pasco County also... Zephyrhills would probably be your best option.
