Not looking living in a city but in the country not to far from stores but not in cookie cutter homes areas or homes that are so close to each other.

How is the crime rate for TN? It's got to be better then where we live near Baltimore.

Looking at the pics of TN and it looks beautiful. Thanks for any info.
Tennessee is a great State to retire to. We moved here a year and half ago and moved from Maryland so we know what you are talking about on being overtaxed in MD. Tennessee not only has a lower cost of living than MD but the taxes are far less (no income tax, our property tax is about 1/3 what it was in MD for a larger house here in TN). The sales tax is higher, but hey, when you are saving thousands on income and property tax paying another $40-50 per month is pocket change. We figure we have about $800 more per month available (with the lower taxes) and that is great. Another nice thing in TN is all the State Parks (and there are lots of them) are free. Bottom line is we love TN and would highly recommend it for a retirement location. Good luck.
