I've lived here all 22 years of my life, so I know a lot about this place. It is about as backward as a city can get. Though the people are kind, they are largely ignorant about things other than Laredo; the majority subscribe to the willingness to remain ignorant; there is no culture; there are no bookstores; the city is not progressive in the least; there is no cultural diversity; 97% of the population is a single ethnicity (I'm Hispanic, too); there is no aspiration for anything more than living here one's entire life; everyone's accent sounds stupid; the infrastructure and city planning are pathetic; the weather is very hot, with little rain--ever; and the list goes on.

However, like I said already, the people are friendly. The university here is also growing rapidly, and the plans for its future are bright and already underway. The alleged criminal activity here is also nothing to be concerned about. Yes, there are dangerous criminals operating within Laredo who belong to the more dangerous Mexican cartels; but what American city doesn't have them these days? The violence here is the least to one's problems of moving to Laredo.

As to where to live in Laredo, north Laredo is definitely the place to be. The houses are nicer, the neighborhoods are safer and quieter, the main parts of the city are more accessible, the infrastructure is better, and the public schools are actually good (my experience, at least).

The biggest problem is the utter lousiness of a city with no real future.
We now have a bookstore in the mall. kinda like 3 towns put into 1. Central part of Laredo is where their may be poor customer service. The north is a great place to live. Open space for more houses being built around United High School, then you have the Mines Road in the Northwest that has been growing rapidly. Stay here for 10 years, and you will see how fast our city is growing.

To be honest , i never look into that. lol. Never thought of that. It should be cheap in some areas across town. Maybe North (Shiloh Street area) and the South (Highway 83) mostly expensive due to the growing rapid rate. You know, try to catch the incoming residents off-guard somehow.

Click on the City-Data header at the top of this page. It will take you to the demographics page where you can navigate to Texas and Laredo, there you will find numerous detailed demogrphics in formation and data, including median gross rent. And if you use the link below that for "Laredo, Tx residents, houses and apartment details" it will show you how many are renting for each range of cost from highest to lowest.

rent is not cheap in the northside, we paid $975 for a 3/2.5 apt...and that was the best we could find. you will find a lack of customer service in laredo, anything from property managers to fast food....peoples attitude just stink in laredo. but dont take my word, live and experience it for yourself. i will say this, if you are not from laredo, you more than likely will not like it.

O dear, if my friend would be on this forum. He'd be speaking a genuine line every day. He and me always represent this town and have Ambitions. Just that mine are a bit more Envisioning. But my friend will sit you down and give a free life lesson about this town you will never forget.
