Here is a nice web site that Texas Parks and Wildlife has that gives lots of facts about the lakes around Texas.

http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/fishboat...ational/lakes/

So, which one is your favorite?

As far as lakes go (I'm a river person)....I'd have to say Lake Amistad, down by Del Rio.

I agree with Cathy ...... I live by the largest lake in Texas, Sam Rayburn, and though I love to fish it and do so regularly Amistad is a jewel. Its got clear water, beautiful scenery, and arguably the best bass fishing in the nation right now!

Even though I live in SA now I would have to say either Caddo in east Texas or Lake Buchanan since I spent my youthful summers there!

I would say Caddo Lake.Something spooky, wild and beautiful about it.And it is actually the only true lake in Texas.Technically, everything else is a manmade reservoir.

Talking Caddo Lake Now Tied for 1st with 2 Votes

lifertexan is correct about Caddo Lake being the only true lake in Texas....although half owned by Louisiana.

I would look for the lake...but I'm swamped!

[IMG][/IMG]
I would be very careful on this lake when the sun goes down

What came first? The lake or the tree?

Those are some great pictures of Caddo. I have relatives up on Caddo and in Uncertain and Marshall so I spent lots of time there as a kid also (grew up in Dallas then moved to SA) Hubby never has been there but sure wants to go to that lake. Lake O the Pines is awfully pretty also.
