actually the city of ARlington has improved the streets in the area which has helped all the days that the Stadium is not in use which is great
the hotels and restaurants in the area are doing booming business during football season and at other times some big event is scheduled for the Stadium which brings tax revenue back to Arlington
I don't think that the city of Arlington got the best deal
no one does who makes a deal with Jerry Jones--same way with someone who tries to make a deal with the Devil--they are usually the ones who wind up with the short end of the stick
Arlington took on huge amount of debt and Jerry Jones is the one who owns the Stadium---

Jerruh did not want it in Irving - for God's sake there's a DART line ! and he could not bulldoze homes and charge $75 to park...same for the Dallas locations.

Jerry paid millions to finance a DART pullout election in Irving once the prospect of the Orange Line began to threaten his parking revenue. The election failed, the city remained in DART. Once that happened, it was pretty much decided that the new stadium wasn't going to be in Irving.

Dallas was never a serious option for Jerry. He wasn't going to spend the extra money building the stadium in a congested area and definitely wasn't going to give up any parking revenue to DART.

Jerry forced Arlington to max out their taxing authority to get the stadium. There won't be any transit in Arlington for a long time. All of the renderings of development around the stadium was a lie. The Ballpark made the same promises. It wasn't the economy, it was just a ploy to begin with.

Sorry, couldn't resist. That was the first thing that came to mind when I read that.

Yep. He wanted that parking revenue. He knew if he put that stadium in Dallas, it would be on or very close to a DART station and people would use that. Now, he can charge arms, legs, and kidneys for people to go the games because there is literally no other way you can get there. Also again, you are correct with glory park. That was suppose to be built in 1994. Nothing has happened. Both of these stations need to be urban locations especially baseball ballparks.

IMO, the Cowboys should have just moved back home to the Cotton Bowl. It was rennovated in the past decade, and it has 10,000 more permanent seats than Cowboy Stadium. That is a real stadium and is how football is meant to be played -- outside. Mile High Stadium is my favorite in the NFL right now for that reason. Cowboys Stadium is nice and fun to tour, but it's all flash.

When Texas Stadium was new it elicited some of the same responses and "oohs" and "ahhs" that Cowboy Stadium gets today. The Cotton Bowl outlived Texas Stadium, and I have confidence it will outlive the deathstar and Jerry Jones as well. Maybe (and hopefully) the Cowboys will one day play in fair park again.

Uh, no.

Sooooooooo much would have to had been stripped, re-arranged, fixed, and built in order for that to happen. Besides, the Cotton Bowl just doesn't fit certain requirements for NFL stadiums now and I don't think more bench seats and better restrooms really cut it.

And plus the cotton bowl has no suites for jerry to charge $10,000 per game........so NO to the cowboys playing in Fair Park.

So now Arlington is home to America's team? NFL economics are so outrageous now it feels like a bubble market to me, what does it cost to go see a Cowboy game for a family of 4? I know that isnt his market, he prefers corporate types but it is an indication of the bubble market potential

I don't think it will realistically happen, I just said I wish it would have happened -- as in, my opinion. Cowboys Stadium is cold, sterile and has a terrible gameday atmosphere -- just like every indoor football stadium does. Opening the bays and roof helps, but it's not the same. There is not a single thing wrong with the Cotton Bowl except it doesn't have the flash that Jerryworld has. Cowboys Stadium, on the other hand, is ALL flash with little substance. The Cotton Bowl is a historic and iconic building and I guarantee it will be around long after they are bulldozing Cowboys Stadium for whatever suburb they decide to move the Cowboys to next.

Maybe one day we can at least get our own soccer team to play in it again. I haven't been to a FC Frisco game in years because I refuse to drive out there.
