Oh it will be very functional...the amenities will be broken up and spreaded throughout the project allowing them to serve the neighborhoods that the river winds through. For example, close to downtown you will have an extravagant entrance to the lakes and the trinity overlook platform. Up north you have ball fields open lawns and trails. down a little further south you have the standing wave and the white water course. And even further south you have the GTforrest ,audubon center and horse park...all of this will be connected via Trinity toll road(that part could be good or bad).So its not just ONE park...Its a grouping of multiple different types of parks overlapping to create the big picture. There could easily be multiple big events going on at the same time hosting thousands of people on opposite sides of this thing. This will be grandoise, but not in a "One big Central Park" manner...more like a "SYSTEM of parks" manner.

I hope Dallas can get started on making the Trinity something nice to look at and nice for nearby residents and businesses rather than just nice to drive over.

Well that's what this plan is too, a greenbelt with intermittent parks. However, just the Margaret Hunt bridge cost ~$90 milliion dollars and this ~2 mile upgrade from downtown to sabine st section will cost ~$55 million. This is the project currently under construction:

So will there be any water interaction? I see the bayou but it kinda looks like it will be lost within the project. It looks exactly like it looks today. What will they do to change the actual bayou? This plan looks like a bigger version of Turtle Creek in Dallas. It does looks like a nice plan tho.

Lolz. So again 90 million on a bridge built over no lakes.... Verses 50 million of parks, walking trails, bike trails, and canoeing/kayaking.

Not to mention it is just one part of the entire bayou redevelopment going on in Houston.

I thought the rapids and other fluff was canceled in the TRP?

Cant you already do this around bUffalo Bayou?....what are they changing?...all I see is a cartoon rendering of stuff thats really already there. But I know nothing about this project so please educate me on this.

Why do people insist that the city of Dallas paid the whole amount of that bridge. THERE WILL BE LAKES.Now that the levees are deemed ok you'll start to see some of those things that people swear were not getting. the standing wave is already built...the white water course is also still a go. They will build it whe they dig the lakes which should be the next big thing we see as i mentioned earlier.
