Average? Whatever makes you feel better. And that's a nice proposal for downtown Houston...a nice proposal. Just because our trains don't look like little streetcars from Amsterdam doesn't mean they don't get the job done. You don't see MTA/CTA running on trains like METRO's "sleek bullets."

Easy to talk smack when all your city (Houston) has is a toy train with numerous entry/exit points along one 7 mile line.

The streetcar project connecting Downtown Dallas to Oak Cliff is progressing (Union Station to Methodist Medical.) Also, I believe MATA is finishing up their Arts District loop.

The Central Station hub isn't a proposal, it is already under construction.

just as Dallas talks smack in almost every other regard because they are the lesser city. you win in miles of light rail. congrats on having something better than Houston. but that toy choo choo train has for surpassed all expectations for it and spawned many new projects along the line, and like many have stated, has the second highest ridership per mile of any line in the US. when you include busses (eww, right Dallasites?) in with the trains Houston has the higher overall ridership between the two cities. and that ridership is only going to get higher once the BRT/light rail conversions happen along the University and Uptown routes.

It's hard to believe Dallas alone has four different mass rail transit. TRE, MATA, DART, and now a modern trolley system. Simply wondrous for downtown and surrounding areas. Not to mention DART's collaboration with DCTA.

I've always enjoyed this addition to CityPlace.

the first one looks like a Fiat or something. the second is the "horrendous" one i was talking about, that runs all the light rail lines. that last one i havent seen before. it looks like a bug or something ugly.
