If you don't have a snakebite kit, you have to cut the area--usually with an "x" shape--where you were bitten and either suck the venom out yourself or have someone else do it (if it is in an area you can't reach with your mouth.) Then, be careful to spit out the venom, not swallow it. The faster that is done, the less venom can get into your system. When I used to hunt rattlers as a kid, the guys who went with me told me that if I got bitten on the butt, I would just have to die.

good thing you never got bit in the butt! ha. thats pretty funny. hope i never run into a rattle snake when i make my move to texas!
