Yep...and it looks like the trend is continuing at least through July 1st, 2008.
Houston, Atlanta, and Phoenix arent doing too badly either.

I'm pretty sure that's Atlanta.

All are right up there with DFW. Neither is far ahead of the other in growth since 2000 in raw numbers or percentages.

Edit: Okay, DFW was the fastest, but barely. The other three are all close behind. DFW had a big year in 2001 and then last year which boosted it up.

I also did mention Houston as well in my post and praised both Dallas and Houston for their steady growth!

I currently live in Flint, MI. and I plan on moving to Texas but I can't decide between Houston vs. Dallas. Here's the rundown on me: I love big cities, many things to do and see no matter the date, day, or time of the year, a diverse economy/employers, diverse racial backgrounds, high African American populated city which celebrates our cultures as well as other cultures, and just a city where if I didn't want to leave to have fun and many choices of things to do, I wouldn't have to. So true Texans who love big cities, things to do, diversity, and a place to thrive help me choose between Houston vs. Dallas-also websites for the two cities if you know of any.

THANK YOU.

Both would be good cities for you, though the Houston metro has a larger Black population and is overall more diverse.

From what I remember of living in Dallas, if Houston has a larger black population, it's so slight as to be inconsequential. Both cities frequently appear in the top 10 on those Best Cities for Blacks lists, along with Atlanta, D.C., and others.

The DFW and Houston metro area foreign born percentages charts.

This study was from 2005. Like the Census, I think this type of report only comes out every 4 years or so, I may be wrong. Interesting information nevertheless.

Dallas is ok, but I'll take Houston. The weather is better and you don't have the risk of tornados as much. Although hurricanes could occur, you can minimize the damage by simply living more inland.
