I wouldn't live in Laredo. My cousin and his family moved to Laredo about 5 years ago. They stayed there about 4 months and couldn't get out of there fast enough. And they moved there from Brownsville. We went to visit and there is just something about Laredo that is not very appealing. I don't know what it is.

Have you considered McAllen? The city is growing a lot and it is on the border.

North San Antonio is mostly anglo from my experience. There is a lot of diversity though (not just Mexican). Nobody that lives here is from here anyway, it is mostly transplants (I haven't met anyone that moved here before 2002!). It is a lot like Austin. The Southside is ghetto and poor but nobody goes down there. Saytown is ballin.

I lived in El Paso for 3 years, and unless you are associated with the military or in the medical field (I'm talking at the least an RN, not a CNA), you will really need to know someone to find a job there, and it is almost mandatory to be bilingual.
