Denver had the double advantages of being relatively new and built from scratch. Many others are expansions of older airports that were intended for current levels of traffic.
Out of the airports I've flown out of multiple times; I would say my favorite is Midway in Chicago. I've never had any issues getting out of there and ticketing and security has always been swift. If weather is bogging down O'hare, you more than likely will be able to still get out at Midway.
I like MSP if I have extra time, but it seems I'm always making a connection and it feels like it's a 5-mile walk to make my connection to smaller airports.
For me: Denver - it's my home airport and is relatively new with a symmetrical, logical, straightforward layout. Also Minneapolis, even though it's a lot of walking to do, it's got a freaking huge mall in the place.
I agree with DIA, but that ain't saying much. They all pretty much suck.
This airport is much smaller but never the less my very favorite. Charleston SC. It is so customer friendly, neat and clean but then I have never had to use it in hurricane season.
Some Airports seem built for the locals and others are built for visitors while others are built to NOT be flown through, with a plane change.
Best for locals is DFW and Houston
Best for visitors is Reagan
Best NOT to fly through is DFW and Miami and Atlanta Hartsfield along with O'hare
Worst for visitors is Denver, extremely confusing to drop someone off to. Both hard to find, recall toll roads without clear indications of how they work for visitors and the way to the departing curb side took me through a garage which didnt seem right but it was.
