Me and a friend were looking to go to Australia for two weeks after school gets out this year. I was looking into tickets, and the cheapest I found anywhere was around $700 I think. Has anyone gone there, and if so, what did you pay for tickets?
Thanks
have been several times
that is a cheap price, you should get it (I'm guessing that is from LA for that price)
and stay at least for a month or the whole summer (there it's winter) don't waste your time with that long of a flight for just 2 weeks
Tickets to Australia have generally been $1,200 or more dollars. You NEVER saw anything under $900. Two airlines (V Australia and Delta) have added competition to United and Qantas who dominated the routes to Australia from the USA and fares have come down a ton. The cheapest I have seen is $600, but $700 is a great rate and historic low on this route.
Quantas is running so REALLY cheap flights right now. I think they are trying to compete with Virgin Australia. I have seen roundtrip from LAX for less that $700. I am sure there are a lot of restrictions and few seats at the price, but the prices now are excellent. We have payed upwards of $1800 before, depending on the season!
It is a long flight, but, depending on what you want to do there, I think it is worth it for two weeks. My children and I flew down to spend two weeks with my husband. Other than the day we arrived, we had no problems. I have found it more difficult to adjust when we come back home.
I just did a search, leaving LAX on April 28th arriving in Sydney (connecting thru Auckland), and returning on May 23rd. The entire price for the ticket $672.93. I had to search for "lowest price in or around this date" and some of the low fares were sold out. If you are flexible, these fares are only thru the 31st of March!
