I have heard that from so many. But I hope not. Because that is exactly what many accused George Zimmerman of doing - being a vigilante.

In all fairness; many made the same comment about OJ.

IMO, this was clearly self-defense, although I do think that he recklessly created the situation that made the shooting necessary. I would have been ok with reckless endangerment or something like that, but the state aimed too high, like they did with casey.

The not guilty verdict in the Trayvon Martin case sparked instant reaction from athletes on Twitter - NBA News | FOX Sports on MSN

I wonder what these celebrities said when OJ was acquitted...

Thank god the jurors weren't quite as ignorant as most of the people in this thread. Zimmerman walked and thats how it should be. At least you can rest in Florida knowing you can defend yourself when little thugs attack you.

So - -

1. Zimmerman goes free.

2. He is told that as long as he stays in Florida, he can keep on doing that over and over again. So can anybody else.

Anybody notice that none of the (white) prosecutors seemed very disappointed. One of them (de la Rionda) said he has tried over 300 murder cases, and this was only the second one he lost. Of course. He has prosecuted 300 black suspects, and hung them all, but if a white man kills a black kid, it's not a slam-dunk anymore, is it??

Our police cannot be everyplace at all the time. That is evident from all of the school shootings - our police show up after the fact. People should be able to protect themselves from attack. If the police were there, before Trayvon was shot; possibly he would still be alive today. But we cannot rewrite history. What is done is done. Teenagers make mistakes every day - some drink or do drugs and drive. Trayvon made some terrible miscalculations that night and paid the ultimate price. I know that does not make it any less painful. Hopefully somebody will learn from this and avoid the same situation. Hopefully Trayvon will not have died in vain.
this is bad day for anybody who is followed and stalked by anyone rapist are going to have a field day.

If the state would have been allowed to do their job without political pressure, the result may have been different. If Zimmerman truly did commit murder 2 or manslaughter, he may have eventually slipped a year or two now bragging about the encounter or something, or more evidence may have shown up. Though not common, a person of interest in a case is sometimes not charged for years in order to make sure a solid case is built, or in hopes of recovering more evidence.
