What's interesting is back in the 90s there were way more violence in the streets.900+ murders in Chicago,1000+ in Los Angeles & 2000+ in New York City.Only thing is there wasn't social media back in those days for everyone to see the violence.Chicago,Los Angeles,New York ,Detroit & every other city isn't as nearly as bad as before.

The media just wants to take the light off deeper issues in America.

Murder has been going on since the beginning of time,War & rumors of War is nothing new. African Americans in America are at war with ourselves & everyone else. But on the flipside we also are more wealthy than ever before.Sad to say this country is doomed and ever since the killing of the Native Americans & Slave Trade the United States has been cursed with blood.

Kobe,

That's what I was speaking on in our previous subject about violence being much higher in the 90s compared to now ( generally speaking). L.A touch 1,000 twice then decline, Chicago stayed between 900-700 until the early 00s and NYC stayed over 1,000 for 16 years consecutively ( late 70s-mid 90s). Now it seem there's more retribution & business conflicts going on the streets of Chicago.

It's so split in the city it's crazy. Statistically for every white or Asian person killed in Chicago there have been 32 black people killed. Of course only 2 white or Asian people have been shot (out of around 1,000,000 in the city) so every ONE change in that number is going to sway things a lot, but still. It's stark.

Much of this has to do with police pulling back in the wake of all the media and protests over that 2013 shooting that just blew up late last year.

It's not really a change in the dynamics of the killings. Mostly still all in those same western and south side neighborhoods, mostly by the same troubled youth as before, but they're just shooting each other at twice the rate they were over the past 10 years or so.

That is true for most cities.

People aren't just randomly shooting people.

Most cities had their highs around that time. Houston was clocking over 600 murders. We all know about DC. Dallas even had over 500. Crazy times 88-94 were in inner cities I bet.

This. 99% of crimes in the inner city anywhere are either gang or drug related.

That's an exxergated figure of course. Someone forgot that domestic cases still contribute about half the crimes almost anywhere.

Yeah, it is exaggerated. But I do not think it is too far off. But what I really meant is that these crimes are not crimes the average person has to be concerned about.
