Dear Mr Tucson: I read somewhere that Arizona’s state tree, the Saguaro, weighs 20,000 lbs, and will jump on top of you if you get too close! That is SO scary! I'm canceling my trip to Arizona! Yikes!
– Anxiety Attack in Hackensack

Dear AA: First of all, and incredibly, the Saguaro is not Arizona's state tree. That would be the Palo Verde. The Saguaro (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/1/19/Saguaro_Cactus_AZ.jpg/90px- - broken link) (sometimes spelled Sahuaro), can indeed weigh up to 20,000 lbs! Have you ever seen that classic picture of a giant Saguaro which had fallen on top of a crushed Cadillac? Haha! The truth is: Saguaros do NOT jump - however, they MAY fall over like any other tree! Also, the Saguaro's beautiful Cactus Blossom is Arizona's State Flower. You're confusing the Saguaro with the Cholla Cactus, which has always been incorrectly thought of a "jumping cactus"! I certainly hope this clears up a few misconceptions for you. Now, come visit Arizona!

Sincerely, Mr Tucson

Dear AA, would you trust the judgment of somebody who doesn't even know his own state's tree?! Btw, you dear AA don't strike me as the sharpest knife in the drawer, either, considering you haven't done your homework and read my recent reply to Overwhelmed!

Dear Overwhelmed, educate yourself! Circle K is AZ's state tree after all!

I've personally dedicated a song to it long time ago! Do I have to do your homework for you?!

Oh, Circle K,
Oh, Circle K,
How red are your branches!

You lovely state tree of ours,
How sweet smell your flowers.
You grow great on every street
right by some nasty greasy eat!

Yep. The Circle K convenience store "tree" grows a-plentiful as well!

I think it's ironic that the saguaro would be referred to as a tree as it happens to be so completely un-tree-ish.

I honestly don't get the obsession with circle K in this state. The place is gross, the coffee is nasty, and QT > Circle K

I had no idea there was an obsession with it. LOL Heck...the first time I had ever seen one was from on of Kevin Smith's movies. I don't even notice them here either.

Oh, well, you can substitute Circle K with a gas station and drug store of your choice! And those are the landmarks at every corner and I believe they can be seen even through rose-colored glasses!
