That is if you want to see for yourself. Pretty much all of the footage had been recorded in the last year and a half.
Bing.com also is a great choice. Type in Tucson, Az and then click on the "Maps" tab - then under the "Aerial" drop down select either Satellite or (better yet) "Birds eye". Note that with this option you can also "zoom in" or "zoom out" and rotate your view through 360 degrees. You can get a very good idea of what an area is like with this tool (I use it all the time when checking out potential vacation rentals). Not all locations have the "Birds eye" view available, but Tucson definitely does.

You have the same options in google as well, rotate 360 deg and zoom in/out.

Google's is slightly different. It doesn't have anything like the "Bird's eye" option (at least not as far as I know) but instead has the ability to view from street level itself. BOTH are REALLY GREAT.

That's why it pays to look at both. Some areas of the country will have later images on Bing and some will have later images on Google.

Actually, it's there on the birds-eye view, so I take that back. Funny, you'd think they'd be using the same image database, but evidently not.

Yes, I see what you mean. Actually most of my time spent here has been in Oro Valley and it is different from Tucson. I probably should have been more specific.

Recently moved to Prescott from Tucson. Best move. Those pictures, like most brochures, are enhanced and only taken at the most opportun times. There are only 2 pretty months in Tucson. October and February/March. Anything other than that it's extremely hot, dry and brown or just irritating because of the traffic. Sorry.

Oh Oro Valley is just a suburb. It's okay because it's newer. But if you have to work it will probably be in Tucson.

I'm in Tucson from Boston for a few days. Got out this afternoon as it was clearing and did a little sightseeing. In my mind, there are two types of "photos" that places use in advertisements. 1) The so-called "trick photography" which make the place look better than it appears in real life with something as simple as strategic timing and cropping or as serious as filtering and photo-shopping. 2) the "don't do it justice" photos where not even the most skilled photographer can dress it up.

Having spent the entire afternoon exploring and taking my own photos (I'll post some tonight in the Tucson forum), I found number 2 to be the case with Tucson. The pictures I saw prior to coming (and the pictures I took today) don't do it justice. The snow caps on the mountains, the various flora and fauna, the always changing vistas, etc. The place is beautiful. And this is coming from a guy who loves his ocean and his greenery.

We moved here from Houston last year. Houston is EXTREMELY green (okay, well not Houston but the suburb we lived in) and I was worried about brown.

I live up in Oro Valley and think it is very pretty. You can see mountains all the time. Sunrises and sunsets, especially on cloudy days, are great.

Is every part of the area picture perfect? No. But I definitely think it is a beautiful city. It is what you make of it. Have a good attitude, try to find beauty and you should be happy.

As long as everyone remembers that we're all currently living in a DESERT - everything else should fall into perspective.
