When they decide it's warm enough. The ground squirrels showed up already, but are still a bit shy.

I've had one living on my balcony, behind a table with a vinyl tablecloth on it, all winter. It's a south facing wall so it's warm. I check on the little guy (or gal) occasionally, and it just stares at me, then scoots down the wall to hide. From about March on, they congregate in the archways of the balcony. Then there's that one lizard that doesn't get the memo to go underground for the winter, and instead hangs out on the balcony.

Smile Lizards are cool

I love the lizards, especially the see through ones. They are great because they eat roaches and other nasty bugs, and they do not bite or bother us. I do not see them around here in Vegas though, but I remember seeing them everywhere in Phoenix.

They'll be here before U know it. I had a Gila monster scare the bejesus out of me last summer. I was sitting in my backyard in front of my shed potting flowers & I saw movement from the corner of my eye. It came waltzing around the corner of the shed like it owned the place & it was BIG & really pretty. Thank God I had my dogs locked up in the front yard. U know they move kind of slow, alot of tourists always want 2 pick them up but they do bite. They have a poison in their saliva that slowly kills their prey. I herded it into a 5 gallon bucket & took it to a more seclued place so it wouldn't get hurt by a vehicle or dog.
